Registration
📋 Registration Requirements
A team is not considered registered until the registration form is submitted and full payment is received
A roster form will also be due the same time registration closes
Only players on the official roster are eligible for playoffs
Substitute players are allowed during the regular season if a rostered player is unavailable
⚠️ Default Rules
Each default:$50 fine which must be paid before the next game. Failure to pay in time will result in the team not being able to play
Uniforms
👕 Jersey Rules
Basketball: All players must wear a numbered jersey in a similar dominant colour as teammates, including subs. Numbers must be clear on the front and back of the jersey.
Volleyball: Jerseys are not mandatory, but matching colour shirts are strongly encouraged
Code of Conduct
Zero Tolerance Policy. Verbal or physical abuse toward any HAL staff or officials will result in immediate removal from the venue and a potential ban.
🛑 Conduct Standards
Zero tolerance for verbal or physical abuse toward HAL staff or officials, including referees, scorekeepers, and event staff
Offenders may be removed from the venue and potentially banned depending on the severity of the incident
Unsportsmanlike behavior toward opposing teams may also result in penalties at the referee's discretion
Gym Rules
🏟️ Facility Policies
No food inside the gym (Red River College policy)
Clean up after yourself — no littering
Leave outdoor shoes on designated mats outside the gym
Only indoor, non-marking shoes are permitted inside
Respect all facility staff and property at every venue
🏐 Summer Volleyball — Registration Open
Secure your spot for Summer 2026. Spots are limited across all tiers.
📍 Multiple Locations: Games are played at Dakota Fieldhouse, Sport Manitoba, University of Winnipeg (UofW), and RRC Notre Dame Campus North Gym. Check your schedule for venue assignments.
🏆 Playoffs & Awards
Playoffs begin the week of August 15, 2026
Single elimination format with a 3rd place consolation game
Playoff seeding based on win-loss record; tiebreakers use head-to-head score
Full player stats recorded and uploaded to the website all season
Media coverage during playoff games
Prizes for top/winning teams in each tier
Gameplay Rules
📖 Game Format
FIBA rules apply
Game times are start times — arrive early to warm up
Games consist of 4 × 10-minute quarters
Stop time only for timeouts and free throws
24-second shot clock and 8-second half-court rule
Games may start with 4 players; fewer than 4 before half-time results in a default
⏱️ Timeouts
1 timeout per quarter; if the Q3 timeout is unused, the team carries 2 timeouts into Q4
Must be requested at the scorer's table — not called at referees
Granted during stoppage or after a score against the requesting team
🔄 Substitutions
Must be requested at the scorer's table
Allowed during stoppage or after the second free throw (if made)
➕ Overtime
Clock is turned off in overtime
Target Score = leading team's score + 5
First team to reach the Target Score wins
Each team receives one timeout in overtime
👥 Player Eligibility
Maximum 2 current collegiate players per team
Maximum 15 players per roster
A player may play in multiple tiers; if retiered, the player must choose one team
